The knob has a attachment based on patent # 348,494 August 31, 1886 by Frank Hollenbeck. SeeThe Doorknob Collector# 165 for history of the short lived company. The ridge in the end of the shank opening is characteristic of the attachment. The other knob was permently attached to the spindle.
