N-14900 through N-15400 are oval "fluted" knobs.  Simple radiating or parallel flutes have been an effective and admired design motif for ages. Knob of this design shown in 1895 Corbin catalog. Another example on page 106 of the 1894 Russell & Erwin catalog.
