The New York State seal and motto (Excelsior) are featured on the doorknobs from the Empire State's capitol in Albany.  Designed and built over 32 years by three teams of architects (including Eidlitz, Richardson, and later Isaac Perry), this building shows what was then the nation's most populous state could build duringin the Gilded Age.
